SLOTTED DRAIN STRAINER

SLOTTED DRAIN STRAINER

The slotted drain strainer is designed for removing solids from oil, bottom reservoir, fresh and waste waters. The stationary full-flow cartridge filter is mounted directly in the pipeline.

STRAINER OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The contaminated fluid enters the inner space of strainer elements through the inlet nozzle. When passing the slotted grate, solids are retained on the inner surface of the strainer element and trapped there under the effect of pressure drop constantly growing in the process of filtration, and some contaminants enter the bottom part of the housing.

The strainer and strainer elements can be cleaned in the following ways:

  1. Strainer self-cleaning upon valve opening on the drain nozzle, without interruption of the filtration process, when the contaminants are removed to the external drain tank.
  2. The strainer is flushed with clean steam or compressed air.
  3. The strainer element is removed for mechanical cleaning when the strainer operation is interrupted.
  4. The strainer element is backwashed by the filtered fluid received at the outlet of the second strainer operating in parallel and removed through the drain of the strainer being washed.

In the normal operation mode of the strainer, the installed strainer element does not require replacement. The permissible pressure drop across the loaded strainer in the filtration process is up to 10 kgf/cm2.
